MOGADISHU, Somalia – Dozens of Aden Adde International Airport employees have protested on Thursday, demanding overdue wages and accusing Favori, the Turkish-owned operator, of repeated labor violations.
Workers said Somali staff were replaced by foreign employees from Kenya, Uganda, and Turkey, leaving locals frustrated, sidelined, and angry over ongoing unfair management practices.
The protesters urged Somalia’s government to intervene, calling on President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to enforce labor laws and hold Favori management fully accountable immediately.
Labor advocates said complaints against Favori have surfaced repeatedly, citing irregular pay, poor conditions, and limited government oversight, reflecting widespread challenges Somali workers face nationwide.
Employees vowed to continue pressing demands until both management and Somali authorities fully addressed grievances and ensured fair treatment.
