Somali lawmakers have filed a formal complaint with the African Union mission in Mogadishu, accusing Ethiopian troops of interfering in political affairs in Buurhakaba district.
In a letter dated February 27, the MPs told African Union leadership that Ethiopian troops disrupted civilian and humanitarian flights, worsening the fragile security situation.
Lawmakers warned that such interference risks undermining public trust in the AU peacekeeping mission, creating instability, and further weakening political and security structures in the district.
The letter also referenced the 2018 South West state elections, when Ethiopian forces were accused of involvement in arresting presidential candidate Mukhtar Robow.
Lawmakers expressed concern about a humanitarian crisis in Buurhakaba, citing drought, water shortages, and blocked aid deliveries that have left residents struggling to survive.
No official response has been issued by the Ethiopian government or African Union mission regarding these serious allegations against their forces.
