
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia and Tanzania signed five deals on Thursday covering foreign affairs, health, tourism, defense, and education, following a ceremony held in the capital, Mogadishu.
The event was opened with the signing of a foreign pact by Somalia’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim and Tanzania’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo aimed at bolstering diplomatic relations.
Four ministers from each nation then signed agreements on health, tourism, defense, and education during the event, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama.
Jama hailed the new pacts as a sign of shared aspirations. “These accords will foster economic growth, regional stability, and mutual prosperity,” he said.
Minister Moalim said the signing of each deal reflects their commitment to regional collaboration which benefits both nations and strengthens ties across East Africa.
For his part, Minister Kombo expressed optimism about the partnership, saying, “Tanzania-Somalia relations take a step toward practical collaboration.”
The signing marks Somalia’s increasing role in regional leadership and highlights Tanzania’s contribution to East African cooperation.
