MOGADISHU, Somalia – Doctors and emergency teams from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) are delivering round-the-clock medical care to frontline troops in the Middle Shabelle region.
The teams are treating wounded Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers and Ma’awisley fighters to reduce casualties in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
Upon arriving in Masajid Ali Gadud and nearby frontline areas on Monday, the teams received a warm welcome and met with SNA commanders after assessing troops’ health conditions.
SoDMA pledged to remain on standby for evacuations and medical treatment, a move SNA leaders praised as crucial to sustaining military operations.
“SoDMA’s presence on the battlefield ensures our wounded receive immediate care and strengthens our resilience,” a military officer said.
Abdi Hussein Abdi, Director of Operations at SoDMA’s National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting SNA forces on the ground.
SoDMA’s medical teams are also set to reach Adan Yabal, Moqokori, and other frontline areas in the Hiran region.
The deployment of medical teams reflects the Somali government’s commitment to protecting its forces in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
