BOSSASO, Somalia — The U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS-Somalia fighters on Feb. 16, 2026, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The strike occurred in the vicinity of the Golis Mountains, approximately 70 kilometers southeast of Bossaso.

AFRICOM said it is working alongside Somali forces to degrade ISIS-Somalia’s ability to threaten the U.S. homeland, American forces, and U.S. citizens abroad.

The command declined to release the number of fighters killed in the strike.
