US military chief in Africa arrives in Somalia
MOGADISHU, Somalia – The head of U.S. Africa Command Gen. Stephen Townsend has paid his 2nd visit to Somali capital, Mogadishu on Tuesday just a month after terror attack on US military base in southern region of Somalia.
Townsend says US government is committed to continue supporting Somali army and African Union forces battling against Al Shabaab, an al Qaeda linked group.
He told the journalists that Al Shabaab had attempted to carry out a terror attack on US military base in Balidogle town, but, said that all attackers were killed, adding that no soldier was killed.
Townsend is expected to meet with Somali President Mohamed Abdullah Farmaajo.
