US military accused of killing civilian in Somalia strike

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali armed group al Shabaab claims US drone strike killed a businessman on June 25 near Kunyo Barrow in Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.

The victim, whose name has been identified as Abow Ali Wardiyow was killed when his vehicle was destroyed in an air strike.

Wardiyow was a well-known businessman in his early 40s and father of 11 children from 3 wives, who was targeted and killed in a suspected US drone strike near Kunya-Barow town, according to sources.

The US military has not reported an airstrike in Kunyo Barrow area.

The allegation comes day after US military claimed to have killed an al Shabaab militant in a drone strike which was conducted on June 24 near Jilib town in middle Juba region of Somalia.
