US airstrike in Somalia kills 2 Al-Shabaab fighters
MOGADISHU, Somalia – The US military has claimed to have killed two Al Shabaab fighters im drone strike in south of Somalia.
In an online statement issued by US Africom command said that the strike against Al Shabaab was carried out in area, some 46km northeast of the coastal town of Kismayo.
“We assessed that no civilians were killed in Tuesday’s sirstrike”, the US military said.
The U.S. has carried out 20 such strikes this year against the Somalia-based al-Shabab. The al-Qaida-linked group is the deadliest Islamic extremist organization in sub-Saharan Africa and it often targets Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
