Unlawful Structures Demolished in Mogadishu

On September 7th 2016, Somali security forces launched operations to demolish illegal buildings and business premises near Aden Adde International Airport. The Police Commissioner of Banadiir Region, Col. Bishar Abshir Geddi, spoke to the local media, explaining that the operations targeted illegal construction, a phenomenon that has been increasing in the recent months. The Police Commissioner went on to note that the land belonged to the government and that the operation was part of a broader programme to restore the beauty of the city of Mogadishu. The Governor of Banadiir Region & Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale, has given warning to those behind these illegal constructions that they will lose their investments and be subject to the law for their activities.
