U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley, visited AUSSOM hospital in Mogadishu to meet soldiers wounded during Bariire’s recent operation against al Shabaab.

Seventeen Ugandan soldiers died during the operation. Over 100 al Shabaab militants were killed, several captured alive and weapons were seized by Somali army and AU forces.

Ambassador Riley praised their bravery and emphasized U.S. support through logistics, medical aid, and other security programs for these frontline soldiers.

“These soldiers take the fight to the enemy daily, making sacrifices necessary for victory,” Riley said, reaffirming U.S. commitment to Somalia’s security.

This visit reflects the strong partnership between the U.S., AUSSOM, and Somalia National Army in combating al Shabaab terrorism.
