MOGADISHU, Somalia – The U.S. government has pledged an additional $28 million to fund five-year resilience and food security projects in Somalia.
U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley, said the programs will help more than 80,000 families, build sustainable livelihoods and develop financial growth.
“This year, we are enhancing our substantial emergency assistance to Somalia with another $28 million commitment,” Ambassador Riley stated.
Through US AID, he said said these projects will help Somalia’s most vulnerable communities, particularly in light of the potential impact of the La-Nina drought.
With this new funding, Riley reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to tackling hunger, food insecurity, and the severe effects of climate-related disasters.
