Two KDF soldiers killed in explosion near border town

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Two Kenyan military soldiers have been killed and
four others, some of whom is seriously injured in bomb explosion claimed by Al
Shabaab near Kenyan border town along Somalia.

The explosion ripped through an armored Kenyan personnel carrier in
Mandera, a town close to Kenyan border along Somalia, leaving two
soldiers dead.

Kutwsa Olaka, Mandera county commissioner says he had survived an
assassination attempt on his life after bomb attack claimed by Al
Shabaab.

Olaka says four soldiers were only injured in Wednesday’s explosion.

Kenya sent its soldiers into Somalia in 2011 to thwart deadly
cross-border attacks by Al Shabaab.

Nairobi also has constructed a security wall along the Somalia border
to deter attacks from the Somalia-based terror group of the
al-Shabaab.

The Al Qaeda inked Al Shabaab militant group has in the past attacked
residents of Mandera during the Christmas festive period killing
security agents and government officials.
