MOGADISHU, Somalia – A teenage girl has been stabbed to death by a group of men in Galkacyo town of central Somalia.

Nim’o Omar Shire died of her injuries after she was knifed at her neck and throat and badly bled on her way to hospital in Galkacyo town.

Police said Shire was stabbed in Garsor neighborhood in the town, shortly after she left a mosque where performed Tarawih prayers.

The killers escaped from the crime scene. ”It is very shocking for the whole community”, relatives said. “We are preparing her burial”, they added.

In March, a 12-years old girl Asha Ilyas was found and dumped near her home in north of Galkacyo town, after she was abducted, raped and murdered. It is latest in a series of attacks on women and young girls to shock Somalia.
