Somali intelligence reported that at least 21 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in an airstrike in the Middle Shabelle region.
The strike targeted senior commanders in the Gelgub area, according to a statement from the agency.
Another aerial raid occurred near Afgoye town, about 30km south of Mogadishu.
Fighter jets bombed the Sabid and Anole areas, approximately 10km from Afgoye, where militants were stationed.
It remains unclear how many were killed in the strike
There has been no immediate comment from the al-Qaeda-linked group over the bombing.
Last week, Al-Shabaab militants captured Sabid, Anole, and Awdhegle town in Lower Shabelle region after dawn attacks.
The group also released photos of the weapons they seized during the attacks.
Both Middle and Lower Shabelle regions have seen a rise in attacks since mid-last month.
Al-Shabaab’s seizure of several towns has raised concerns over their resurgence.
Driven out of Mogadishu in 2011, the al-Qaeda-linked group continues to carry out deadly attacks.
For over a decade, the militant group has fought to impose a hardline interpretation of Sharia law in Somalia.
Al-Shabab still controls large swaths of southern and central Somalia.
