Somaliland’s cabinet, chaired by President Abdirahman Irro, accused Somalia’s government of blatant interference and warned of serious consequences after meeting in Hargeisa.
Information Minister Ahmed Yasin said Somaliland rejects the new “North-East Somalia” administration declared in Las Anod, calling Sool, Sanaag, and Togdheer inseparable Somaliland territory.
He warned Mogadishu’s interference aims to distract citizens from upcoming elections, accusing the federal government of failure in security and reconstruction responsibilities.
Somaliland urged international partners to review lifting Somalia’s arms embargo, warning the decision fuels political conflicts and risks arming extremist groups across the Horn of Africa.
