Somalia’s security forces seized car set to explode in Mogadishu town center
Somalia’s security forces have seized a car that has been fully loaded with explosives in Mogadishu town centre.
The security forces in the capital has been intensifying security check as general election is expected to take place in October 30. This is Third vehicle that has been captured from Al-Shabaab operatives within a month. The security minister says that “Al-Shabaab is trying very hard to cause a mayhem in order to proof that they are still a force that to be reckon with and our national security(NS) are always are one step ahead from the shebab.
The seizure of the bomb-laden car comes two days after deadly car bomb and gun attack on beach-front restaurant left 10 people, including 5 civilians dead. Three gunmen attacked the beach club last week Thursday, 2 of them has been killed and one intoxicated terrorist has been captured alive.
However, security there is security concern as there are a hundreds of fighters sneaking in to Mogadishu, in an attempt to disrupt the upcoming elections due to later this year. “There are intelligence reports that Al Shabaab fighters may be coming in the city and planning to execute attacks during the forthcoming election,” security official said.
