Somalia’s popular TV comes under attack in Mogadishu
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Heavily armed Police Forces have raided on Universal TV headquarters in Somali capital Mogadishu, triggering a brief gun battle.
Universal, a London-based channel came under attack by police forces on Saturday, according to TV’s editor Abdullahi Ahmed Nour.
Nour says police officers managed to enter its gate forcefully, and then clashing with the station’s guards.
He says its troops fired back as the police forces led by a man with no police uniform.
Nour said his station had suffered equipment damages.
No one was killed or injured in the clash.
It is unclear why the police targeted the station.
There was no immediate comment from the police command over the incident.
