Somalia’s parliament approves budget for 2019, worth $340M
MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Federal parliament of Somalia has approved its state budget for 2019, which is worth $340 million of dollars after being proposed by the Finance ministry of Somalia.
The Members of Parliament have unanimously voted to approve the proposed 2019 budget, according to speaker of the parliament, Mohamed Sheikh Mursal.
Mursal urged members to attend the final approval of the budget session that is scheduled on 31st December to beat deadline following day-long debate by the parliamentarians.
Somali minister of finance, Abdurahman Du’alle Beileh says he presented the 2019 budget to Parliament for the 2nd reading.
“The budget is realistic, based on credible data and provides more investment in basic public services”, he said.
“Beileh also welcome the Budget approval by the parliament”
More than USD 340 Million budget tabled by the ministry of finance via the finance committee for next year plan is expected to be unanimously approved on Monday.
The discussion of the budget comes at a time when the embattled house finance committee has been reshuffled in an effort to end divisions within its membership, that was the root cause to the delayed sessions.
