Somalia’s Houses of Parliament reach new deal

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s Upper and Lower houses of parliament have reached a new deal to resolve misunderstandings which existed in the last couple years between the two houses.

Sen. Abshir Ahmed says the Houses’ leaderships committed to address all areas of disagreement to create good working relationship in executing mandate of Federal Parliament.

Hon. Ahmed said the leaders agreed to work together in the legislative process by ensuring input and participation of each chamber is adequately catered for.

He added both Houses will henceforth actively engage in ensuring all functions of Parliament are conducted through consultative and participatory process

The Parliamentary leadership also agreed to fast-track all the legislations which must come into being before the end of the term of the current Parliament and Government of Somalia
