Somalia’s Deputy FM arrested over fraud allegation
MOGADISHU- Somalia’s Foreign Affairs assistant minister, Muktar Mahad Dau’d has been arrested over alleged corruption scandal.
Da’ud was arrested over a warrent after Somali Police Forces launched raid at the Ministry headquarters in Mogadishu, sources said.
The source said detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested Da’ud ‘on alleged corruption in the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Meanwhile, Somali Attorney General, Ahmed Ali Dahir accuseed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mukhtar Mahad Da’ud of “stealing public funds” and for using office for personal interest.
The Attorney Dahir says there was 4-month long investigation into alleged corruption.
The arrest comes barely a week after CID officers arrested the director of Resettlement in the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry of Dahir Mohamed Nur over alleged graft.
There was no word from Somali Foreign Ministry over the latest allegations.
