somalia:Puntland ministers Condemn the killing UN International Staff

PRESS RELEASE -10 April 2014  -The Cabinet of Ministers this morning strongly condemned the recent killing of UN

International Staff in the City of Galkayo, Puntland State of Somalia.

The Cabinet sent their heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the two

victims who were identified as Mr. Clement Gorrissen— a French citizen and Mr.

Simon Davis, a Briton.

The deceased worked for the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) as

International Staff members and had landed in Galkayo Airport before their shooting

on Monday 6 th of April, 2014.

A number of the Ministers knew well and worked with the deceased on several

projects and initiatives. At the Council of Ministers meeting today, the cabinet mourned

the killing of the deceased, took a moment of silence to pray for the victims, and

recognized their services and sacrifices for the Puntland people and Somalia in


The Council of Ministers commended the quick and professional action of Puntland

Security Forces, Medical Personnel and the public on responding to the incident.

The Cabinet further requested that a professional and genuine investigation be carried

out effectively and that justice be served for the victims.
