Somalia welcomes new UN representative in Mogadishu

Mogadishu – Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdulkadir Ahmed-Kheir Abdi welcomed James Swan, the new Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia, and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), who arrived in the capital to assume his duties.

The new UN representative was greeted at the Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu with a warm welcome.

During the meeting, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation welcomed HE Mr. James Swan, praising the important role played by the United Nations to achieve a safer and more stable world, stressing the keenness of the Federal Republic of Somalia to enhance cooperation and coordination with the United Nations and its specialized agencies in various fields to support efforts to make political and security progress.
