International partners have welcomed the consultative forum proposed by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to address Somalia’s challenges.
The partners stated that the forum, which will bring together regional states, civil society leaders, and other stakeholders, is crucial for success in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
This initiative aims to ensure a unified strategy in countering Al-Shabaab while advancing state-building efforts in Somalia.
“We also welcome the positive response from Somali opposition members regarding the upcoming forum,” the international partners said.
They urged Somali leaders, regional officials, and stakeholders to unite for a coordinated response to the ongoing Al-Shabaab offensive.
“Prioritizing national security is key to defeating Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda-linked group,” they added.
The partners also commended both Somali and African Union (AU) troops for preventing recent Al-Shabaab advances in the Lower and Middle Shabelle regions.
“We remain committed to supporting Somalia’s peace, democracy, and prosperity, and will continue to do so for a stable future,” they concluded.
