Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has met the UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutters on the margins of the 38th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa.
The two leaders discussed pressing regional peace, security, and the ongoing political issues.
They also discussed the new AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia and the efforts to secure funding for the mission.
President Mohamed said his country would work closely with the United Nations.
“This meeting was fruitful”, President Mohamud said. “We also exchanged our views on regional peace and security matters”.
The UN Secretary-General reaffirmed UN’s continued support for Somalia on governance and the electoral process.
