Somalia: Two people killed by explosion near Mogadishu
MOGADISHU – Two people have been killed and two others injured in roadside bomb explosion near Somali capital Mogadishu, witness and police said.
The explosion targeted hit a luxury car which a soldier was driving at Wedio area, some 13km north of Somali capital, leaving 2 people dead, a witness said.
He says the soldier was killed in the bomb blast.
Somali police officer, Hussein Mohamud says Sunday’s explosion killed a soldier and a passer-by civilian and injured two others, adding that the victims were taken into hospital in Mogadishu.
Mohamud says police soldiers arrived at the scene and started an investigation over the bomb attack.
No group says it carried out Sunday’s bomb explosion.
But, such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
The Al Qaeda inspired group has been waging insurgency for more than ten years in Somalia.
The group, which once controlled much of Somali capital Mogadishu in 2011, wants to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
