Somalia: Two local officials abducted by Al Shabaab

Two local Somali officials have been kidnapped by Al Shabaab gunmen in an attack near Kenyan border along with Somalia.

The abductees are said to be chiefs of Adaley and Shaatulow areas near Luq town after Al Shabaab fighters broke into thier homes, sources said.

It remains unknown where the fighters took away the abductees.

Somali security forces launched an operation which is meant to rescue them from Al Shabaab.

There was no immediate claim from Al Shabaab over the local officials’ abduction in Somalia’s Gedo region.
