MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least two people have been killed and five others left wounded in bomb explosion in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
The explosion went off when unknown gunmen hurled a hand grenade at the residence of Deynile district commissioner, Mohamed Abukar Ja’far.
Ja’far was unharmed in the bomb attack, a witness, who asked to be anonymous, said.
The victims were rushed to hospital in the capital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion.
But, al Shabaab often claims responsibility for the bombings in Mogadishu, targeting Somali government officials.
The al Qaeda inspired group has been fighting to topple the weak-western backed government based in Mogadishu for more than ten years in Somalia.
