Somalia: 1 dead, 6 others injured in explosion near Mogadishu




MOGADISHU – At least one soldier has been killed and six other people injured in roadside bomb explosion near Somali capital Mogadishu.

The blast targeted a vehicle carrying Governor of Lower Shabelle, Mohamed Ibrahim Barre and a district official while travelling into Weido area Somali capital, a witness said.

The officials reportedly escaped with minor injuries after blast targeted their vehicle, a witness said.

A bodyguard was killed and six others including two regional officials were also injured in the bomb attack.

No group says it carried out Saturday’s explosion.

But, such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group in Somalia.
