Somalia: Turkish national killed in Mogadishu explosion
MOGADISHU, Somalia – A Turkish engineer has been killed and his bodyguard injured in bomb explosion on Sunday in Somali capital Mogadishu.
The victim, whose name has not been released yet, was confirmed dead, when bomb explosive fitted into his Hilux car exploded near Taleh area of Mogadishu, a witness said.
Turkish embassy in Mogadishu confirms that a Turkish citizen was killed in an explosion in Mogadishu.
Somali armed group Al Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the bomb explosion.
The al-Qaida-linked al-Shabaab militants continue to hold small rural areas in central and southern Somalia.
The group wants to overthrow the weak UN-backed government in Somalia and impose its own strict interpretation of Islamic law.
It has lost control of many towns and cities to a 22,000-strong African Union force supporting the government
