
Speaking alongside Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Israel’s recognition of Somaliland is illegitimate and unacceptable.
He accused Netanyahu’s government of killing 70,000 Palestinians and continuing aggression in Syria, Yemen, Qatar and Lebanon, according to his remarks in Istanbul.
Erdogan said Turkey will continue supporting Somalia’s territorial integrity and unity, backing the federal government amid regional and diplomatic tensions with partners.
He said Turkey has commissioned two drilling ships to conduct exploration activities in Somali waters and the Black Sea region this year.
Erdogan said Turkey has signed a fisheries cooperation agreement with Somalia, aiming to further enhance bilateral economic and maritime ties long-term.
He said Turkey plans to establish a spaceport in Somalia, with the Turkish Space Agency set to begin construction activities for project.
Erdogan said the Turkish Red Crescent and other Turkish nongovernmental organizations will continue providing humanitarian assistance across Somalia through ongoing relief programs.
