Somalia to end UAE role in its military affairs
MOGADISHU (Mareeg Online)– Somalia’s defense minister, Mohamed Mursal has declared that its troops trained by UAE will be “broken up” and merged into different divisions into army.
Mursal says his country will shoulder salary payments, in a bid to end military cooperation agreement between Somalia and UAE.
“We want to take rights and responsibility of our soldiers,” he told journalists in Mogadishu.
He says the government of Somalia had made a plan to settle down army salary payments, including other military forces, which were trained by UAE in General Golden camp.
The move ends the diplomatic relations between Somalia and UAE.
The relations between both countries have been soured as UAE is accused of being involved in the political crises in Somalia
Somali authorities seized a jet from Dubai, carrying $9.6M, but UAE claimed it was intended to pay the salaries of SNA soldiers and trainers in Somalia.
