Somalia: Six killed at market near Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least six people, including three government soldiers have been shot and killed by gunmen near Somali capital Mogadishu.

The victims were gunned down by young men armed with pistols at market in Afgoie town, some 30km south of Mogadishu.

Three women, who witnessed the assassination, were also shot dead at the scene, said a witness, Mohamud Mohamed.

“The killing happened after Friday prayers when gunmen shot dead the soldiers in Hilwaley market. 3 women who witnessed the killing were also murdered”, he said.

The killers fled from the crime scene.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Friday’s assassination.

Somali police in the town remain unavailable to comment on the latest killing in the town.
