Somalia’s State Minister of Defence, Omar Ali Abdi, met with Qatar’s Deputy Ambassador to Somalia, Mohamed Awad Al-Shammari, to strengthen ties.
The meeting focused on security cooperation, capacity building, and support for the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), officials said.
Both officials reviewed Somali forces’ progress against terror groups, highlighting stabilisation efforts and the importance of continued collaboration to maintain Somalia’s national security.
Abdi commended Qatar’s support for Somalia’s security initiatives, while Deputy Ambassador Al-Shammari praised Somali forces’ achievements and commitment to fighting terrorism effectively.
The two sides concluded by pledging to deepen bilateral cooperation in security and stabilisation, ensuring Somalia and Qatar continue working together for peace.
