Somalia, Qatar discuss on bilateral relations
DOHA, Qatar – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Issa Awad arrived in Qatar’s capital, Doha.
Mr. Awad held a bilateral talks with Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, in the capital Doha.
Sheikh Al Thani and Awad reviewed the bilateral relations and means of supporting and developing Somalia in various fields.
The two sides also discussed on regional and international developments and common visions.
Somalia and Qatar developed close diplomatic relations since Somalia neutral stance on gulf blockade on the tiny wealthy nation.
Qatar is supporting the Somali government in several development projects across the country.
Doha also donated earlier this year 68 armored vehicles to Somali armed forces in its efforts to help fight against al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab in the war-ravaged nation of Somalia
Qatar is among countries supported the Somalia in all stages of its ordeal as Doha is pushing for influence in the country with the role of its Gulf rival.
