Somalia: President Farmajo heads to Asmara
Somalia’s president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his delegation have flown to
Eritrea’s capital Asmara, after departing from China’s capital Beijing.
President Farmaajo is set o join a tripartite summit by Eritrea’s President Afewerki and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the country’s Information Minister Yemane Meskel said.
It remains unknown the agenda will be discussed by the leaders.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has already arrived in the country where he was met by Eritrean president Isaias Afwerki at the Assab airport.
Abiy’s return to Asmara is the first time since July 2018 when he arrived for an official visit leading to the signing of a peace deal that ended a protracted war between the two nations.
