Somalia marked its 65th Independence Day on Monday with one of the most elaborate celebrations seen in recent years.
The government organized a large-scale event featuring military parades, modern equipment displays, and air shows over Mogadishu.
All branches of the armed forces participated, as troops marched and performed drills on the streets of the capital.
Horses and camels were also visible, adding to the show of national strength and tradition.
Somali military aircraft dropped awareness leaflets to engage the public and commemorate Independence and Unity Day.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the ceremony, watching the parade and laying a wreath at Daljirka Dahsoon to honor fallen heroes.
This year’s celebration comes as the Somali government implements military reforms and revives the long-dormant air force.
