Somalia: KDF base hit by rockets

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali armed group al Shabaab has carried out a rocket attack on Kenyan Defense Forces under African Union peacekeeping force in Somalia.

The al Qaeda linked group says its fighters fired several mortar rounds on Kenyan army base near Elwak, a town close to Kenyan border along Somalia.

The militant group heavy casualty inflicted on Kenyan soldiers.

Kenyan military remains unavailable to comment on the attack.

Kenya has troops in Somalia operating under African Union peacekeeping force to weaken the al Qaeda linked al Shabaab.

The group has been fighting the Somali army and African Union troops for more than ten years in Somalia.
