Somalia and Iraq are strengthening security cooperation as a Somali police delegation visits Baghdad, meeting Iraqi officials to discuss training and knowledge sharing initiatives.
The visit follows an August trip by Iraqi security officials to Mogadishu to expedite implementation of a bilateral security agreement between both nations.
During Baghdad meetings, the Somali delegation exchanges insights on counterterrorism strategies, police training programs, operational coordination, and measures to improve regional law enforcement capabilities effectively.
Experts say Somalia and Iraq’s partnership may serve as a model for international collaboration in combating terrorism, sharing expertise, resources, and strengthening overall security infrastructure.
The Somali police delegation will spend two days in Baghdad, with follow-up visits expected in Mogadishu to ensure successful implementation of the bilateral agreement.
