Somalia: Gov’t forces battle with Al Shabaab in Baidoa–Officials say fierce gun battle broke out between Somali National army forces “SNA” and Al Qaeda inspired Al Shababa militants in Baidoa, the capital of Bay region.

The deadly battle is said to be erupted after heavily armed fighters from Al Shabaab launched an ambush attack against on Somali military bases located in Baidoa. The casualties remain unknown.

An eyewitness who asked to be unnamed said that both warring sides used heavy and slight weapons during the surprise assault on the military base.

Hassan Aadan Noor, a chief of security forces says that Government forces repelled Al Shabaab attacks from the town.

Baidoa, a town situated 256 kilometers (159 miles) by road northwest Mogadishu Somali capital.
