Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has received senior officials from SOS Germany and SOS Somalia.

The meeting chaired by SoDMA’s leadership Mohamud Moalim focused on the humanitarian situation in Somalia.

They also discussed the decline in international aid that had been a crucial lifeline for the most vulnerable populations.

The reduction in aid has impacted efforts to address humanitarian needs and this was marked as a concern by both sides.

Both SOS Somalia and SOS Germany reaffirmed their commitment to increasing their support for those displaced by conflict and natural disasters.

“We discussed strategies to bolster relief efforts in Somalia and ways to ensure aid reaches those in need,” Moalim said.

Moalim also emphasized the need for continued cooperation between Somalia and international organizations to support vulnerable populations.

He said strengthening local capacities and long-term solutions are crucial for creating lasting impact in Somalia.

Both SOS Somalia and SOS Germany pledged to intensify efforts and explore better collaboration with other stakeholders for a coordinated response.

As aid flow decrease, SoDMA is working closely with SOS Somalia and SOS Germany to fill gaps and sustain support.

This meeting was part of SoDMA’s strategic discussions to secure funding to counter the decline in aid from the U.S.

Somalia remains central to such meetings, serving as a step toward securing the resources and partnerships needed to improve the lives of millions in need of aid.
