Somalia: Former presidents to travel Kismayo
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Former Somali Presidents Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will be traveling to the country’s southern port city of Kismayo after Mogadishu lifted its travel restrictions imposed on Jubaland.
Sheikh Ahmed and Mohamud are scheduled to attend Jubaland president Ahmed Mohamed Madobe‘s inauguration that will take place in Kismayo town, some 500km south of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Madobe was re-elected for his third term in office in an election as Mogadishu –based government announced that they would not accept the outcome of the poll.
The political tension between Jubaland and the Federal Government of Somalia escalated following the re-election of Madobe last month.
