Somalia and Ethiopia began the first round of technical talks to advance the Ankara Declaration on December 11, mediated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Somalia’s Foreign State Minister, Ali Mohamed Omar, and Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister, Gedion Timothewos, attended the talks in Ankara.

The meeting was hosted by Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, with both ministers and their delegations reaffirming their commitment to the Ankara Declaration.

They also began turning the declaration into reality, paving the way for sustainable development, according to a statement obtained by Mareeg Online.

Somalia and Ethiopia are expected to attend the next round of technical talks hosted by Turkey in March 2025.
