Somalia: Car loaded with explosives smashed into a wall in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least one person has been killed and seven others injured in a car bomb exploded at a restaurant near the police academy in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

He says a car laden with explosives a restaurant which is behind Kahiye police academy in the capital, killing at least one person.

Rescue workers evacuated at least seven victims, including a woman to hospital.

Somali armed group Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for Thursday’s explosion.

The attack comes after Somali police warned of a possible terror attack in the capital Mogadishu.

Last week, Somali armed group Al Shabaab carried out suicide attack in the capital, leaving 15 people dead, dozens injured.

The group, which wants to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia, was driven out of Mogadishu in 2011.
