Somalia, Chine sign MOU agreement in Beijing

The Somalia and Chine government have jointly signed MOU to join the Belt and Road Initiative as well as an agreement on enhancing Economic and Technical Cooperation in Beijing.

The agreement was signed by country’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister H.E Ahmed Isse Awad and Commerce and Industry Minister H.E Mohamed Abdi Hayir on behalf of Somalia.

The two sides encouraged further engagement in development support, investment and trade links between China and Somalia.

Meanwhile, Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo met with leaders of Chinese companies and financing enterprises which are interested in investing in Somalia.

The President says his government welcomed all investors and is working towards further improving the investment environment.

He said: “Somalia is open for business”.
