
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has laid the foundation for New Mogadishu International Airport in Warsheikh town of Middle Shabelle region.
President Mohamud said the airport project is critical for Somalia’s progress and boosts both economic infrastructure and national air transport connectivity.
This airport will be modern and fully equipped. This will serve our people and supporting international flights operating in Somalia”, he added.
He said the project reflects the country’s recovery and citizens’ ability to rebuild while ensuring security.
“Somalis are liberating areas from Al Shabab militants while simultaneously developing national infrastructure and restoring the country’s dignity and global standing”, he said.
The Foundation stone laying ceremony was also attended by Hirshabelle President Ali Gudlawe and Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Mohamed Hussein and other senior officials.
