Somalia has welcomed Qatar’s mediation efforts for dialogue between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda.
The trilateral meeting, led by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim, was attended by Presidents Félix Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame in Doha.
Somali foreign ministry said the talks marked a key step toward promoting peace and stability in Eastern DRC and the wider region.
The ministry said Somalia welcomes all parties’ ceasefire commitment and values the Luanda and Nairobi processes.
“Somalia fully supports these efforts and stands in solidarity with Congo and Rwanda in their pursuit of lasting peace and prosperity”, said the ministry.
The Doha discussions lay a crucial foundation for a sustainable resolution, ensuring security, stability, and development in the Great Lakes region.
“We appreciate Qatar’s role in promoting dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution,” the ministry said.
Somalia is committed to supporting peace initiatives that uphold sovereignty, stability, and regional cooperation.
