Somalia’s Defense Minister Axmed Macallin Fiqi and Army Chief Odawaa Yuusuf Raage attended EDEX 2025 today.

The four-day exhibition is held at Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo, showcasing defense technology and attracting delegations from over 100 countries worldwide.

Around 450 leading defense and security companies are participating, with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi officially opening the event this week in Cairo.

The exhibition covers Africa and the Middle East, highlighting modern defense equipment and technologies, providing nations opportunities to explore military cooperation and procurement.

During the event, Somalia’s delegation will hold meetings with international officials to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discuss security and defense development initiatives.

Egypt is expected to send troops to Somalia to assist in countering al-Shabab insurgents and stabilizing liberated regions in the country.

Both governments have emphasized commitment to regional security, particularly securing the Indian Ocean and Red Sea, crucial for international trade routes and shipping.
