Somalia’s Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi attended the opening of DIMDEX 2026 in Doha Tuesday during an official working visit to Qatar.
DIMDEX 2026, the ninth Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference, was inaugurated under the patronage of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During his visit, Minister Fiqi is expected to sign a defense cooperation agreement between the Federal Government of Somalia and the State of Qatar.
The exhibition, hosted by the Qatar Armed Forces, provides a leading international platform to showcase advanced maritime defense technologies and military equipment worldwide.
Officials said Somalia’s participation reflects ongoing efforts to enhance capabilities of the Somali National Armed Forces and expand international defense and security partnerships globally.
