Somalia: Al Shabaab suspect arrested in Netherlands

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Netherlands police arrested a 23-year-old man whom it accused of being member al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group based in Somalia.

Police in Breda suspected him to be involved in terrorism.

It says the suspect had joined Islamic terrorist movement al-Shabaab in Somalia in 2017 and was also trained.

It is believed that the man returned to the Netherlands late last year, according to the Prosecutor. The authorities recently determined that he was staying in Breda and arrested him.

The man was arrested on Monday, but his arrest was only announced on Thursday after his arraignment. He was remanded into custody for two weeks.
