MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab has captured major Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (IS, ISIL) base in north of Somalia.

The group’s fighters seized three Islamic State bases, including its biggest camp in Dasaan near mountains, after days of fighting, according to Puntland Intelligence officials.

The spy officials said the Islamic State had lost key bases to al Qaeda linked Al Shabab.

“Al-Shabab had the upper hand as Daesh lost three bases, including their biggest base in Dasaan”, the security officials said.

It is unclear how many from both sides were killed in the gun battle.
